Posted by Di Gregorich, on August 24, 2010 My Garage Sale was a huge success.
I never thought to have everything labelled and priced or to put balloons out the front, all those ideas came from you. Thankyou very much.
I had at least 100 people come through and was completely sold out by 11.30am.
I will not hesitate to advertise with you again and will happily recommend you to others.
Thanks again for making my day successful.
Di Gregorich Posted by Lynn Lawson, on August 24, 2010 The website was really helpful and useful.
The items that went best were the furniture and electrical goods - oh yes and having a 'everything for a dollar' pile for the little kids to look through while parents were browsing Posted by Michael Amyotte, on August 23, 2010 A great day and holding during voting was probably a plus as more people were out and caught the street advertising. We sold every electrical item within the first 2 hours! The online ad plus a family created pamphlet letter drop brought us the most traffic.
Only downside was despite saying 'no early birds' we had people out the front an hour early. Posted by CANDICE ROBINSON, on August 23, 2010 Hi, Yes our garage sale was overall successful. Unfortunately we only had a couple of people that had seen it on your site come along. However it was election day and this probably kept the crowds away. Overall the site is a great way to advertise. Most people were looking for the kids bikes, scooters ,toys, etc and these were the first items to sell. Posted by Phil Wheeler, on August 23, 2010 The sale went well. The advertising with What Garage sale helped considerably. I will definitely be using you web site again.
Cheers
Phil Posted by TERRY BARKER, on August 19, 2010 Hi - the garage sale was a HUGE success regarding the homewares items but at the prices we were selling new products for, we would have been surprised had it not been.
The clothing samples sales were OK but not as frenetic as the homewares. Posted by bri, on August 16, 2010 We had a successful garage sale. not too sure how many ppl got my add off here, either way, ill def be using this site again for my next sale and will also be advising ppl that I know as well! Thanks! Posted by Kerrie Caddy, on August 16, 2010 We had a great garage sale, very successful. We had heaps of people turn up. We put up six signs around local streets with balloons to attract attention, and a lot of locals came along. Some of our visitors were looking for items which were only specified in your advertisement, so we are grateful for your advertising, as well as some of the tips we got from your website as well.
Thank you guys, we will definitely use you again for our next garage sale. Posted by Korrina Dunton, on August 16, 2010 I found What Garage Sale a thoroughly professional service from the beginning to the aftercare. The advertising setup was straight-forward; and all the assistance given added value to the money spent. By comparison we also advertised in the Courier Mail and received no extra assistance where required.
I have recommended What Garage Sale to neighbours, who intend on having a garage sale.
Thank you. Posted by Bethany, on August 2, 2010 The garage sale went good, we sold most everything that we had there. I also told a few other customers and neighbours about your website, but sorry I didn't have time to ask weather the customers had come from your website or from the street signs.
Thank you for your great service

Posted by Helen Blackmore, on August 2, 2010 Ok. This is the 2nd time we have used this site in a month and we have had 2 very successful garage sales, one of the bonuses, is the update to see the competition in the area. The service and efficiency behind the scenes is very good, and a few people asked about you and will use you themselves. Many thanks again, we will be back again in about a month !!!!! Posted by Joanna, on August 2, 2010 Your site was the best $5 I've ever spent. Unsure of how many came as a result but your tips, info and encouragement were second to none. Particularly liked the fact that you had lots of info, if one had time to read it, but also a summarised version which was very helpful. Well done. Am telling my friends about you. Posted by Kat McGowan, on July 29, 2010 Excellent customer service and very easy to use. Posted by Sandra, on July 28, 2010 The garage sale went quite well even though we only planned it over the space of a week - a last minute idea to get rid of a lot of stuff due to moving out. It's hard to say how useful this website is because you can't see how many visits per ad, but we were happy with the sale over all. I would definitely advertise here again. Posted by Venus Rosa, on July 26, 2010 HI THERE, THE GARAGE SALE WENT VERY HECTIC BECAUSE IT START RAINING BUT STILL WE'VE HAD FUN AND SOME THING WHAT WE DON'T NEED ANY MORE DISAPPEARS FROM OUR GARAGE. THANK U Posted by michelle , on July 26, 2010 Went really well sold a lot and I didn't even advertise in the paper. I Put a lot of signs out in the main street. That helped . And your advertising . Thank-you very much and I will use you guys again for sure. Michelle Posted by Karen and Lazar Maric, on July 22, 2010 Our garage sale made us more than we'd expected - the little things (books, toys etc) sold very fast. Thanks! Posted by Anglea, on July 15, 2010 Hi There,
Yes our garage sale was quite successful..
I should have however advertised in the local paper (left it too late) as most buyers were on foot and noticed our signage and balloons (older members of community don't have Internet)... we did sneak some neat laminated posters on a couple of telephone poles in the neighbourhood busier streets but I had the kids run around collecting the signs as soon as it was over
Did have some left overs but plan to call Vinnies for pick-up!
Overall had a good day and everyone was happy... helps to offer some freebies... I had some clothes in baskets/plastic tubs (which would otherwise go to a clothing bin anyway) separate from my hanging clothes and would offer them for free after they purchase something, makes people smile when you say "Oh you can have anything out of that lot for free!"
Thanks for your interest and support,
Angela Posted by Marja Moore, on July 12, 2010 garage sale went well - a bit quiet to start but by mid morning early afternoon we sold most of the "stuff". Quite a few buyers mentioned seeing the ad on your website. It was a great day. Posted by Jodie, on July 5, 2010 My Garage Sale was a great success thanks to What Garage Sale. We sold over half of what we had! Thanks for the tips and hints - I believe they helped to sell alot of our bulkier items :) Would definately use this site again. Thanks! Posted by Sally Ferguson, on July 5, 2010 Went quite well although we could have been more organised. Might have another one next week. Beware thieves though.. my husband had to ask someone to get stuff out of their pockets & they still managed to steal 2 x box games! And people dumped dirt & plants out of pots on our garden! How inconsiderate! Posted by Lucia, on July 5, 2010 Yes, advertising on the internet only works for those who look on the internet!!
We did ok saturday and quieter on sunday.
many people in the outer SE suburbs were mainly looking for cheap house-hold goods to set up a new home (new migrants, is my guess).. so, they were great!
in the tool shed - SHOULD HAVE ADVERT IN THE LOCAL PAPER!!
We will run the garage again for moving more tools but will only advertise in the local paper, again, the new migrants may not always have the access to internet, so signs up around and the newspaper would be best.
Had a great time, though - interesting experience!! Lucia
Posted by ROBYN RICHARDSON, on July 5, 2010 I had dealers coming 5 days before and other customers coming day before. Sold everything and went back inside to find more things which I also sold. I handed out cards to family members and overall other than cheap prices, was very happy not to have to bring back into the house and put away again. Thank you for a wonderful site and being a computer novice and no-one at home to help me when I did the add, I found very easy to set up. Recommend to everyone. Posted by kathleen, on June 29, 2010 Our garage sale went much better than we had hoped. We were never longer than five minutes without someone coming in to have a look. We advertised on this site, in the local paper and put signs up on the day. All three seemed to equally contribute to amount of people that came.
We said that early birds were allowed but they were quite impatient as the rain held up our set up so I'd suggest you don't allow early birds unless you are able to set up the night before.
All over had a great experience and found this website and its tips extremely helpful. A lot of the tips were used and helped sell a lot of stuff we didn't think would go. e.g. an old tv and video player were set up to show they were working. Posted by Anna, on June 28, 2010 Garage sale went well. Thanks for all the tips. Very useful.
I would definitely recommend being as specific as possible about what you have to sell. Many people came looking for things that I wasn't selling Posted by Kym Rowbotham, on June 21, 2010 Our garage sale was a success thanks to advertising with you. So easy and cheap to place an ad. Posted by wanda, on June 16, 2010 the garage sale was dismal as it was a poor choice of weekend and i needed to post it way sooner. better luck next time i guess. however was very happy with your site and the ease of use as i'm not hugely computer savvy. thanks anyway. Posted by Meryl Benjamin, on June 15, 2010 Thanks for the info on garage sales was most helpful. Was a wet and cold day but all went well. Posted by June Lane, on June 14, 2010 Considering the weather I was very pleased with the response to our G.S. Numerous people had seen the ad on the internet. What was most helpful were your list of suggestions as to pricing, advertising, displaying goods etc. We will certainly use the your site next time around. Many thanks - June Lane Posted by Bernadine Haare, on June 10, 2010 Was a bad turn out, maybe the area I live in? Or the fact that the poor weather had something to do with it, I followed the hints and tips sooooooooooooo off to Blacktown Markets and Ebay I go, other than that the website is very user friendly recommended all to use, but research your area and see whether people actually garage sale in the area, otherwise head to the markets which will cost you $40.00 to set up but oh well, soldier ON!!!! and get rid of the junk in the trunk lol Posted by Marion , on June 7, 2010 HI
WE HAD A PRETTY GOOD RESPONSE TO GARAGE SALE IN SPITE OF RAIN BUT HAD IT ADVERTISED IN LOCAL PAPER 2 WEEKS RUNNING AND SIGNS OUT AS WELL .TRIED TO GET ONTO INTERNET SITE DAYS EARLIER BUT HAD TROUBLE SENDING OFF THE FORM
MUST HAVE DONE SOMETHING WRONG FILLING IT IN
WOULD USE AGAIN, WILL ASK CUSTOMERS NEXT TIME ABOUT SEEING ADD ON INTERNET

MARION Posted by Fiona Archer, on June 7, 2010 Advertised my garage sale recently on What Garage Sale. Very easy to use, good response.
We had a good sale. Posted by Peta, on June 7, 2010 Hi Heidi
We had a very successful garage sale. Sold most things. Mainly due to the fact that we priced everything very low and then discounted as the day went on. We had the coldest rainiest day but didn't seem to matter. Don't rely on long range weather forecast!!
I think we had a lot of drop in traffic I think due to lots of signage.
All your tips definitely helped. We put quite a bit of work into it.
I think your website could be made easier to access and it would be very helpful if editing could be done after posting original add.
Are you able to tell me how many hits we had on our ad for interest?
Thanks for your help,
Peta Posted by kelly, on June 2, 2010 I found this site a really good way for people to look for garage sales.. my garage sale went ok, but the weather wasn't really the best so it could have been better, but overall i was happy with the outcome.. I definitely recommend using this site to advertise Posted by Julie Coyne, on May 24, 2010 Thanks. The garage sale went well although we would not do a Sunday again. Probably two Saturdays. We did have a shop lifter. He took a necklace and earrings. My friend did suspect he did something but neither of us were sure until he left and we found the empty box. He came when there were a lot of people. Thanks for the hints and tips, especially about garage sale signage. Thanks again. Julie Posted by Rachelle Tulloch, on May 24, 2010 Thanks very much for advertising our Giant Sale. It went very well, despite the rain, and we got a lot of visitors from all over Sydney which I'm sure our ad in WhatGarage Sale would have had a hand in!
Thanks again for your help!

Rachelle Posted by Sam Bourke, on May 24, 2010 Our garage sale went well despite pouring rain. Bigger items listed on this site attracted plenty of interest. We had lots of good quality paperbacks at dirt cheap prices which failed to sell well, other than that a good success. Thank you. Posted by Irene Owins, on May 24, 2010 Easy and cheap way to advertise a garage sale. Also easy to contact for changes if needed. Recommend this site. Posted by Janet Puplett, on May 24, 2010 What a fantastic site - obviously quite a few people read it. I was wary about advertising here but wouldn't be again. Keep up the great work - due to this site my garage sale was a great success. Posted by Glenn Gunther, on May 24, 2010 I dealt with Heidi and found her to be very efficient and polite. I thank her for helping me with the listing. It was a great help!
A lot of people came and we sold a fair amount of what we needed to clear.
It was a good, exhausting day.
Thank you once again.
Glenn Posted by Vanessa, on May 24, 2010 Thank you for the E-mail below, our Garage Sale went well… I asked most people how they heard about our garage sale and the majority of people were driving past or they heard about us through friends, flyers I left in local shops and through the local paper.. We also advertised in the Sun Herald, though that didn’t really bring a lot of people…
I will use your website if ever I am looking for a Garage Sale in my local area…I think it’s a great site..
Thanks again Vanessa
Posted by Bill Schroder, on May 18, 2010 The sale worked fine. We sold nearly everything including some items of large furniture.
The web site was straightforward and easy to manage.
Posted by mrs inez crowe, on May 18, 2010 Wonderful results. Moving House Sale and we sold over $1500!! Posted by Paul Beanland, on May 17, 2010 Garage sale went well. Success was due to a number of items selling in a price range of $30-$100. We didnt ask people how they heard about the garage sale, so don't know what percentage from Local papers, internet and street signs.
Your site has a lot of very good tips Thank you. Posted by Paul Lengronne, on May 11, 2010 Very happy with everything. The garage sale was a sucess. Will recommend your services to anyone wanting to organize a garage sale. Plenty of good tips.
Thanks again
Paul Posted by paul pavlou, on May 10, 2010 What a fantastic garage sale lots of people through out the day. Very successful. You need to advertise to to let people know and this site is a very popular one for people to look at.
Next garage sale I will be advertising again with "what garage sale.com.au"
cheers
Paul Posted by Yvonne , on May 5, 2010 I had a great Garage Sale and a great day! Unfortunately alot of the items I would have preferred to sell didnt and I am at a loss as to why? I had many people tell me how of high quality my goods were, yet people didnt seem to be interested. I think people automatically associate Garage Sales with Tools and Bric-a-Brac of which I had neither. Posted by Chris Boi, on May 4, 2010 All went well with our garage sale, unfortunately it was hard to judge which advertisement was more successful, we were pretty happy of the outcome and will recommend your advertisement as it was good value. I think putting up balloons helped too!!! Posted by Eve, on May 3, 2010 Our garage sale was a huges success on the weekend and we believe the positive result is due to advertising, dealing with whatagaradesale.com.au was so easy and cheap. Posted by Elissa Robinson, on May 3, 2010 I found the website easy to use and easy to advertise on. The garage sale was worthwhile. We were especially successful in the big ticket items, but not so much the smaller stuff. I would definitely advertise on this website again. Posted by Gennifer, on May 3, 2010 Thanks for the help. We printed garage sale notices and put them at 5 major intersections - lots of people commented that it couldn't be missed. Posted by Ann, on April 27, 2010 Very happy with the results of our recent Garage Sale. Thankyou for the opportunity to advertise it on your site. Posted by Nancy, on April 26, 2010 Our garage sale was said to be one of the best our customers had ever seen. It was huge, really well set out, colour coded with pricing labels and we had mostly as new items including some new that were really too good to sell. However as we only managed to get adds with Herald Sun Newspaper in time for the sale we had missed the local paper and this meant that only a few locals dropped in. The herald sun bought in most of the flow. What garage sale.com.au really helped us get it right but we had not put up signs in the street and this definitetly worked against us. Also because it was held on the long weekend there was reduced drive by traffic, we had heavy rain for a couple of hours where no one came as well. Most of the people arrived within the first hour and last hour of the garage sale. I will be selling all my larger items on ebay now and will need to reschedule another garage sale but prepare signage and local paper adds as well to optimize flow of customers as a priority. My biggest selling item of the day was surpisingly old bottles of perfume that were half to a third full. Better luck next time. Posted by Chris, on April 26, 2010 Great website. Easy to advertise as well as ridiculously inexpensive. Questions were answered EVEN with a phone call. THANK YOU. The day went extremely well. We set up under cover for bad weather and it was 2 hours before we posted signs on poles locally etc but there was a lot of people from 8am on. Over 100 people through on the day and 2/3's of our things sold. Thanks again Posted by Pamela Walker, on April 20, 2010 I recommended your website to others who said they might do a garage sale.
Especially helpful was your list of hints.
The day was a success and I sold more than I had expected to.
Thanks again. Posted by Trevor Thompson, on April 19, 2010 All good news to report. Many big ticket items failed to sell (even though priced well) so eBay still has place in my life.
Would like to see a 'visitor counter' incorporated so I know how many people have viewed my ad on your website.
Many thanks again. Easy site and good information. Posted by Cathy Fyffe, on April 12, 2010 Had a great day, sold all the big item. When questioned a few people mentioned the internet as their means of finding us. Posted by kelly williams, on April 8, 2010 Hi,
This website was extremely easy to use and were very helpful with all their hints and tips.
thanks again
kelly Posted by Jan Robinson, on April 6, 2010 We had a very good day all 3 groups made money we had a large amount of people turn up , we thought the long weekend was a good idea as well as selling our unwanted goods the council clean starts this week so what wasn't sold is now gone. Posted by Rosalba Goldsworthy, on April 5, 2010 Hi just letting you know my garage sale went off ok. It wasn't as succesful finacially as I hoped it would be and I was left with a lot of stuff that din't sell {since gone to charity}. But I asked people where they saw my sale advertised and a few mentioned your web site so that was good. Thank you for your interest and if I was ever to do it again I would definately use your web site to advertise again and will be recommending you to others as well.
Regards,
R.Goldsworthy Posted by Robyn Harris, on April 4, 2010 What a great day!
We were inundated with keen browsers and buyers.
The weather was great, the bargaining fun and plenty of compliments for the organization of our garage.
Most of our goods were bought and people were pleased with the many "freebies".
What a great way to get people to our sale.
Thanks. Posted by Belinda Rawlinson, on March 29, 2010 There was hardly a person who didn't buy and a very successful day turning unwanted items into cash. The highlight of the day was we sold a whole room of furniture. Hip Hip Horray! Children items such as clothes, toys, books and bikes were also good sellers. Whatgaragesale.com.au provided great selling tips, one particular is the colour coded price list. This worked a treat with the toys and clothes. Posted by April, on March 29, 2010 Garage sale was amazing!!! We are using the money towards taking our Mum to Thailand for her 50th this year so this has helped out incredibly and we are now well on our way!!! Highly recommend this website!! Posted by Mike Furber, on March 29, 2010 Great result
Very busy morning. Basically all high value stuff was sold by noon.
Thanks What garage sale ...Mike Posted by georgia, on March 29, 2010 Great garage sale , happy customers, lots of variety for everyone sold everything. Thanks again Posted by Greta Caruso, on March 29, 2010 People arrived early and bought with gusto. We had fun making up the prices as we went along. Nieghbours who we have hardly spoken to came along and introduced themselves. We sold the roller blades and crutches as a pair. The cook books and the diet books were sold as a bundle and all the "good intention" exercise equipment is still sitting here. We have no idea why we had over 10 tennis rackets and figured that they must have bred under the house. For one dollar each rachet someone got a bargain. It was great fun and has given us a few hundred dollars. The advice on the website was valuable and the whole thing was easier than we anticipated. The difficult thing will be avoiding collecting more stuff. Posted by Alice, on March 23, 2010 Great day even though it was raining I held my garage sale in my lounge room. I had lots of interest and used the tips from the website which were very helpful. I spent hours marking prices on the items and relaxed the whole day i even did a bit of cooking because my kitchen is right next to my lounge! My customers were very jealous as they could smell the cupcakes cooking! I sold most of the items and everything else will go to charity. Thank you for your website - it is affordable advertising and it works. Posted by Pam Redcliffe, on March 22, 2010 The weather was perfect for our Garage sale. I was impressed that the people did not start coming till the advertised start time. We did not get as many folk as we hoped in spite of advertising, signs and balloons. We have the chance to do it again after winter, but this time on a main road and we believe this will help to catch passing traffic. We would not have done as well if we had not advertised our garage sale with you though. Thanks for your help. Posted by Gary Cross, on March 22, 2010 Garage Sale was a smashing success. Sale was due to start Sat 8am and we made our first sale on Friday 17:15. There was a constant stream of buyers through out the whole sale peiod. Advertising our garage sale was key to our success I believe. Internet, paper, signs and sms to personal contacts list on mobile phone...Had a ball.! Posted by Karyn Stephens, on March 22, 2010 Election day was a great day for a garage sale ! Perfect weather and good advertising on internet, paper and fliers in the street, contributed to a successful day, making almost $500. We managed to meet many of the neighbours and locals, many of whom said the sale was one of the most organised they had seen. I utilised the tips and hints from the what garage sale site which were fantastic. Preparation was the key, and knowing prices, keeping security tight and displaying things appropriately were important. Posted by Liz Panov, on March 22, 2010 It was the best advertisement that I have done. The response was great. I would use and recommend whatgaragesale.com.au to all that I know.
Thank your help, it really assisted me. Posted by Jannine Campton, on March 22, 2010 Our garage sale was held as a fundraiser to help with the costs of getting kids to Little Athletics State Championships, and as such was hugely successful ($927 raised). We had the cause well advertised, and signs up at the sale, plus had the kids there in their club uniforms, which drew a great response, and led to much generosity from our "customers". Very little haggling took place, most were happy to pay the ticketed price, with some even paying more than was asked. I have come away from this experience with some great lessons learned for future fund raising sales:
> Most of the stuff on offer was donated to us to help with the fundraising, so we were able to sell for a reasonable price. I think this was partly why people felt able to be generous and little "beating down the price" went on.
> As it was a fundraiser for the kids, we put them to work cleaning and dusting everything to be put on sale so everything was well presented, clean and well set out. People were able to browse comfortably and many spent a good deal of time doing so. This was particularly good with the books (which we had hundreds of) and it seemed like nearly everyone bought an armful.
> At the end of the day a dealer turned up who bought every book we had left, plus all the big stuff that had not yet sold (dressing table, bedsides etc), and he complimented us on the clarity of the signage we had put up around town, that the signs were what had brought him there. We also had one couple travelling from Grafton to the Gold Coast divert to our sale because of our signs, (and they made some great purchases). Carelessly scrawled cardboard signs suggest a carelessly prepared sale that doesn't draw in anyone but the most die hard of garages sale goers.
Our sale was such a success we will be doing at least one a year as a fundraiser for ongoing sporting expenses (we regularly have to travel long distances for various championships). Although on this occasion we didn't survey the effect that your website had on our results, we will definitely use the site next time and will pay more attention to this aspect. We were really impressed with the quick response we had from you, and the helpful advice.
Many thanks Posted by Peter Journeaux, on March 22, 2010 Hi Team at What Garage Sale
We had a terrific day on Saturday, although I don't recommend moving and holding a garage sale on the same day to anyone but an enemy! But we did clear out a bulk of our 'stuff' which was great and it made us feel good that some of our items found a happy 'second home' - soccer balls and books went to schools in Fiji, a compressor to a contented handy-man, slide projector to a photo fiend and collectables to happy dealers! But most of all we loved the personal and easy help you gave us with our queries. Thanks a million.
Lyn & Peter Posted by Marie-Anne, on March 15, 2010 We had our garage sale on Saturday, 13th March (we actually renamed it to "Yard Sale" in our advertising because we don't have a garage...).
It was a great success. The weather held out and we had loads of people through. We sold about $300 worth of gear between 8am and 2pm.
As well as advertising on www.whatgaragesale.com.au we did a letterbox drop in our area and sign posts.
One valuable tip we picked up from the website was early signage... we had a big sign out front of our house for a week before the sale which I think was a great idea - giving our neighbours the opportunity to get in early for the bargains.
We were lucky enough to be holding our sale the day after the Current Affair piece on whatgaragesale.com.au - which we thought was fate!
Knowing that we had our listing on whatgaragesale.com.au gave us a little more confidence than we would have had I think and overall made it enjoyable experience.
Posted by Stuart Osbourne, on March 15, 2010 It was a beautiful Melbourne summers day, even though it was autumn and before the sun had risen or we were even ready, we were up and at 'em.
A throng of expectant people waiting to peruse our old gear
The ad said half past eight, but it was only seven I fear
And before we knew it, we had sold all the Star Trek books.
Our low prices gathered some funny looks The day went on at a steady pace
And we sold and sold like it was a race
At the end of the day, we had sold a lot of our stuff
But by two o'clock we had enough
We said our thanks to whatgaragesale dot com, dot A U
But we were through
Posted by Rose Webb, on March 15, 2010 What a day !!, all in all we sold around $2,100. We had people running up our driveway at 8.00am and had sold $1,000 worth of tools by 8.30am. Then the ladies came and came, and men came back with their trailers for more.
Best way to advertise, it was brilliant !!
Thankyou so very much.
The money will pay for the removalist !! Posted by Pauline Harper, on March 15, 2010 What a Fantastic Day, sold almost Everything, The Customers were waiting out side the LOCKED gates for 2 HRS so as to get in as the Gates opened and they were happy to Wait, only a small amount of Pilfering. we had 4 other helpers, all ways a very good Idea to rope in your Friends, and most things need a price on each article higher than you think you will get so your Customers can Bargain about the Price and you do not lose out on making Money for all your hard work. I would recommend a Garage Sale to anyone Posted by Margaret Hardingham, on March 9, 2010 Had a terrific garage sale having sold half of my old pine furniture, half household goods as well as my sons and their girlfriends selling clothes and a set of drums etc. One gentleman was so excited at finding my Chitty Chitty Bang Bang video that his wife had been searching e-Bay for months. Another gentleman (a Collector) was also extremely excited, asking for old shoe polish tins, full or empty, as I went inside and found about 6 for him. He said I had made his day. I was also asked for sheet music of which I also looked inside but realised it was all at my parents house from my teenage years when learning piano. A friend gave me 3 items to sell that didn't sell at his friend's previous garage sale, of which all sold before 9.30 and surprisingly we know the 3 people that bought them so he was very pleased. We started packing up at about 1.00pm as we were all a bit weary, watching as they still came in, in their droves. All in all it was a huge success and thanks to the website we sold over $400 having asked the buyers how they knew about it. Thanks again, Margaret. Posted by Debra Houghton, on March 8, 2010 It was a day to remember. I polished up my German,French & Latin by reading old texts, resurrected anything retro for the house (vitamizer still makes great eggnogs),found some old silver and polished that too. We made a small profit (?) so we can now afford a gardener to tidy the old family home. Best of all we had a great family day! Posted by Mrs Inez Crowe, on March 8, 2010 Our garage sale was a HUGE hit. We had it on a Saturday 8am-2pm and people were rolling up the day before! I used your "tips and hints," especially with the baby clothes that I had and I was able to move 2/3's to a new home, I was estatic. We made around $1,300. I asked people how they found us and my first visitor said the "internet," What a powerful tool the worldwide web is. Mum and Dad are using your site when they have a garage sale next month and my girlfriend and I are using your site again later in the year for our next planned Garage Sale. Thanks guys!! Posted by Lesley Moir, on March 2, 2010 'Wow!' What a great sale we enjoyed. This would not of been achieved without our advertising and applying the advice you gave us. Thanks so much and I would like to take the opportunity to express to others who are thinking of a garage sale to use your advertising. Posted by Allana, on March 2, 2010 Where do I start, I was lucky enough to have Greg from WhatGarageSale.com.au visit my garage sale along with Nick Coe from A Current Affair who were running a story on how to run successful Garage Sales. I would say the day was a success as well as being fun and overall a great experience, I would definitely advertise on whatgaragesale.com.au again for two reasons, firstly because it is a cheaper alternative to advertising your garage sale, and secondly Greg and Heidi were lovely people to deal with. All the best! Allana Posted by Myra Dowling , on March 2, 2010 Well, I had my garage sale last Saturday and it was a lot of fun meeting new people as well as my new neighbours. It was very successful and I cleared a lot of stuff and the buyers got some great bargains. I've now delivered the remaining stuff to the local school for their upcoming Trash and Treasure stall, so everyone benefits! The day started though with a great deal of stress as a buyer knocked on the gate at 7.30am, asking to be let in. When I opened the gate, our 4 year old black groodle (golden retriever/poodle) ran out of the yard and had great fun exploring, with me trying to call him back in. When he finally looked like he was going to run back into the yard, disaster struck again, with another buyer who tried to catch him, scaring him off towards busy Toorak Road. My 15 year old son was woken and he set off, wearing his pyjamas and thongs, after Ollie; luckily he managed to make Ollie stop, just before the busy street. So... some tips for a successful garage sale - make sure the house door is closed so your dog doesn't get out, clearly sign prices on items so there's no misinterpretation (my sister sold my son's Playstation 2 games for $10 the lot, when they should have been $10 each!), also, encourage your helpers to read parking signs so they don't get a parking fine (same sister!). Finally, make sure you do make lunches the night before to feed yourself and your helpers, and be prepared to have people still coming in after closing time. Cheers have a good one! Posted by Tracy Barry, on March 1, 2010 Our day was a great success. We sold over 3/4 of our goods. Some of them went for less than I wanted, but at least the are gone! Thanks for the great signs and balloons, that was a nice added touch. It was great to see how many people viewed our advertisement. I had 1 person tell me specifically that she found us on your website... so it was worth it.. Thanks Tracy. Posted by Pauline Williams, on March 1, 2010 Well, we didn't feel we had enough for a garage sale so by inviting friends and neighbours to join in proved a huge success. We are on a small property in the Adelaide Hills and between all 7 of us we had a huge array of choices all set up in our front paddock. We also offered a sausage sizzle and soft drinks. A couple of things to note: 1. Those that priced their items sold more. 2. A lot of comments from people saying the signage was good and they weren't left guessing where the sale might be! The signs were clear with kilometres showing and an extra sign at every cross roads.
Other neighbours who didn't take up the offer are now asking can we do it again!
Thanks again for your help.
Will definitely be advertising with whatgaragesale.com.au again! Thanks! Posted by Geoffrey Thorn, on February 22, 2010 Thankyou for your Website information, It helped the garage sale tremendously, knowing just how to set things up for sale with prices set etc. We had a very successful garage sale.
Regards Geoff. Posted by Sarah Psomotragos, on February 22, 2010 A very windy and hot start to the garage sale as the temperatures soared to 34 deg. I was a little dishearted at first but once the morning got going the neighbours came out and enjoyed fossicking through our belongings. Was thrilled when someone wanted the bar fridge, "It's exactly what I need! I'll take it!" "Yeah, I thought and quickly plugged it in! Few were the thoughts that went through my mind. It worked." So a few minutes later I said bye to an old family belonging!
Next an old wine barrel. Going for $15 a lady said "Can i have it for $10?" "Sure" and whilst she went and walked her dogs (coming back later for the barrel) I could've sold it twice over!!!
Was delighted to sell a fish poacher to a fisherman who had lived in the area for 60 years. Sold an old (non working quartz) clock to another neighbour who was happy to take it for $5 to try and fix it.
Sold lots of other trinkets and 'bits and bobs' and was happy to get rid of a bit of 'old stuff'!
Look forward to the next one- just not too soon!
Posted by Rhonda Olifent, on February 22, 2010 On the day that we held our garage sale, it did not let up with the rain. We had kissed away the thought of anyone attending in this wet weather, but we were pleasantly surprised. We ended up having a fantastic day with people still arriving well after the advertised finishing time. Posted by Jennifer Wood, on February 19, 2010 I Didn't know there was a web site you could use, it was so easy to follow and all your info was great help. We had a good day even when it rained people still came and we moved lots of things.I would like to say sorry to all those that came for my crystals and found none a lady came the day before and brought the whole collection in one go, I never thought that would happen. Thank you again for the wonderful work your team do.I have passed your site on to family and friends, and they are passing on to more people. keep up the good work. Jennifer Posted by Sharon DeSailly, on February 18, 2010 Had a great response to garage sale. Saturday definitely better than Sunday - more people out and about. Street signs worked well and many people commented that they saw the online advert. Would advertise in What Garage Sale again. Posted by Jodi , on February 15, 2010 Our garage sale was going ahead rain hail or shine, and unfortunately, we had mostly rain, but we still made $1000 profit.
We had people coming from everywhere after seeing our advertising on whatgaragesale.com and also the brilliant signage that my husband did on bright yellow cardboard with clear thick black writing.
Weather was not good, sales were great..
Thanks so much to the staff at whatgaragesale.com for your advice and support. Much appreciated. Posted by Catherine Davis, on February 15, 2010 Easy to use site.
Most impressed by your service.
I used your "hint" not to advertise the house number in the local newspaper, just the street, worked well and had no early bird callers. Had to laugh at the people driving up and down the street trying to get in first. LOL.

Catherine Posted by Leah, on February 8, 2010 Garage sale on Saturday was a huge success and we raised a load of money for the Royal Childrens Hospital, had over 100 people attend. Planning another one in March as we didn't get rid of everything. Posted by Vanessa McRae, on February 8, 2010 I didn't even know this website existed until I got a text message and it is a fantastic site with some very helpful information. Despite the torrential rain, the crazy winds and the constant rescuing of a flying tarpolin that we had put up in an attempt to keep all our sale items and customers dry, we had a fairly successful garage sale. Having large furniture items and electrical equipment certainly draws the people in and having low and affordable prices meant people bought more than we anticipated. In our fight against the weather and no customers for the first 2 hours of our sale, we were hoping to sell at least a few things to cover the cost of advertising the sale, but we didn't have much left at the end of the day and we made some money which was great! Will definitely use this site again for any future garage sales. Thanks Posted by Silas, on February 8, 2010 I just wanted to say that thanks to the website we had a great success. We got rid of almost 90% of the items we had for sale. The only draw back was the weather, however the keen buyers were out there with the umbrellas.
Thanks once again, until next time.

NSW Posted by Krys, on February 8, 2010 Well I must say, I was going to message you whether you emailed me or not, as I had to say a big thank you! This was my first time holding a garage sale and you made it all the more fun and easy for me. The day turned out great, I even put a bowl of lollies and had a bit of music in the background, which did create a relaxed environment, especially for me would you believe. I had six cars out 1/2 hour before, but in the end we didn't sell the big items we had hoped for. This sale was for my father-in-law who has gone into a care facility, I also left pamphlets on the table as the house is for sale also, and would you believe 8 people were interested in the property, funny if I sold the house, I probably would have left all the furniture in it for them.
Anyway thanks again if I do it again I will be in touch. Regards Krystyna. Posted by Lorraine Gladman, on February 3, 2010 Best way ever to advertise your garage sale we had a fantastic turn out and a very busy two days Thanks to whatgaragesale.com.au Posted by Luke & Amanda Sorensen, on February 1, 2010 Outstanding turn out sold everything I wanted to sell. The garage sale sale was a blast and this website really helped us prepare. Posted by Anthony John, on February 1, 2010 Hi there,
More than happy to say the garage sale went well... your site was the first one we found and after some quick comparisons decided yours was the best!
We also advertised on the Trading Post site and not 100% sure where people read about us but most likely from this one.
Sold most of our stuff (although almost had to give it away!) and the experience was ok.
Anthony Posted by Trevor Ord, on February 1, 2010 Hi and thanks to the "whatgaragesale" website. Within 3 hours of advertising on your website my first customer walked in and purchased $80.00 worth of goods. Your low fee of $5.00 was made up over and over. We sold most of our stock on the day.
Trevor & Gloria Ord Posted by Ed Watts, on February 1, 2010 Our garage sale went well. The strangest purchase was the mat from our garage floor that was there to protect leaks from the car onto the concrete and was not an item for sale but one buyer asked to buy it anyway!!! Posted by Laura Spencer, on January 25, 2010 My husband and I hosted our very first garage sale on Saturday and were quite excited! We didn't sell everything, but still made a healthy profit of $200. Not bad when you consider that we were just going to get rid of the things that we sold. We're going to donate the rest of our things to charity, and try to sell the bigger things (bookshelves and bed) on the Trading Post.
We certainly appreciated your wonderful service. We'll certainly use your services again for our next garage sale and recommend you to friends and family. Posted by CASEY, on January 25, 2010 Thanks heaps to whatgaragesale.com.au for all your great tips, we took them all into account with our garage sale. Our garage sale was a huge success. We managed to sell just about everything, We made plenty of $$$, and the kids and I also had a great day doing it. Even my husband was surprised on how much we sold. Posted by Jessica RICHARDS, on January 25, 2010 Hugely successful garage sale!!!!!! With the weather letting us down it could have been a fizzer - but it wasn't. So glad I found the website for that last minute advertising I forgot to do in the local paper....... Posted by Janine, on January 18, 2010 Thank you for making my first garage sale a big success. l would definitely recommend 'Whatgaragesale.com.au' to all in the future.
The pressure of my first garage sale was cut in half from your help & suggestions, once again a big thank you for your help.
Regards
Janine Williamson Posted by kristie, on January 12, 2010 What a great service you guys provide. I was surprised with the assistance provided by whatgaragesale.com.au More remarkable were the many comments about how organised I was! Sadly I could not take credit and told each person who commented, how easy it is to arrange when you have whatgaragesale.com.au assisting. Thanks again.
Kristie Posted by Judy Kenny, on December 21, 2009 I had quite a successful day with a lot of people coming through. I sold well in excess of $300 and was pretty happy with that as most things were just unwanted items. Your site is excellent and inexpensive. I would definately use it again if I or any of my friends was having a garage sale. Thank You. Posted by Mel Squire, on December 16, 2009 Our Garage Sale went really well! We managed to sell quite a few items which was great, ahead of Xmas!
Many thanks for your help! Posted by Sharon Metzl, on December 16, 2009 just wanted to say thanks for all your help - we chose the hottest day for our sale - but it was all good. we did not get rid of everything so I am off to Vinnies tomorrow with the rest - my motivation for my sale was to extend the life of items and avoid land fill :)
So thanks again wish I could post a pic for you I made a massive sign right across our house :) Great site hope it keeps going well :)
Cheers,
Sharon from Bondi Posted by Michelle, on December 14, 2009 Our garage sale went very well with many people finding our about the sale from this website.
Cheers, Michelle :-) Posted by Ross, on December 14, 2009 We got rid of some of our stuff but the items that we really wanted to get rid of, we still have. So we sold lots of small things that we used to pad up the sale and if I won the $50 that you are offering - that would make up about 50% more profit for us. Posted by Ailsa Robson, on December 7, 2009 We were pleased with out first ever garage sale. We didn't have to deal with unwanted early birds as we had the sale at our business workshop which was more central (and we arrived when we were ready - about an hour before the start time). All feedback from buyers was positive - they liked our clean, organised displays and someone said that they could tell we were genuine spring cleaners rather than someone who is a hard seller. We priced everything, but were flexible with price on every item, encouraging haggling. We sold approx 1/2 of all our items - donated much of what was left to charity and will sell a couple of things on ebay to complete the sale. We took 2 weeks to organise it - going through the house/shed, cleaning things, labelling them, advertising, setting up and cleaning up but we made some good pre Xmas money! Only let down was that we hadn't realised that the Xmas pageant was on that day and the main road to the workshop was closed for an hour or two which disrupted customer flow for a while. I'm not sure we could do it any better really. It was fun chatting to customers and we enjoyed giving great service like wrapping breakables for people and setting aside large sold items for future collection. We are also hoping for some business opportunities from the day because many people asked what we did - bonus promotion.
Strangely the things that sold were unwanted gifts we'd received- cat mugs and ornaments, platters, candles - gift items (maybe because of Xmas coming up?)
People bought items out of obligation if they took from our free pile (good tactic for sales and to get rid of things you don't want - 1/2 bottles of purfume etc etc)
Probably wouldn't do it again in a hurry - maybe only a car boot sale now that we have basically purged our unwanted items from the house/shed.
We had in our mind that even if we sold everything for $2 each we would be in front as most things we hadn't bought ourselves - most were given to us. This made it easier to part with everything. Posted by Jill Yates, on November 30, 2009 It all went amazingly well and your ad helped get the news out to everyone. We had a very good turnout of people. We advertised at two other internet sites(egaragesale and gumtree) and in 2 local papers as well as street signs. As far as your website goes, it was all easy to navigate and had the necessary information. Thank you Posted by Roy Parfitt, on November 24, 2009 The signs and ballons must have had an effect because we had enough people who stopped and looked at what we had for sale. We sold most of what we had but not all , so we will use your services again in the near future. I was dreading the day but all went well in the end. Especially the extra cash. Posted by Wendy, on November 23, 2009 Had a steady steam of customers all day. Sold items of every genre; happy with result. Posted by Linda Arnott, on November 16, 2009 Thank you for having this website. We had alot of regular garage sale people come in the morning, and some of them had not been down in my area and were happy to find rather alot of garage sales that were not advertised on websites but they were going to drive around the area. Thanks so much. Posted by Fiona, on November 9, 2009 Thank you so much! My garage sale was a huge success and many of those who visited mentioned 'what garage sale'. I honestly couldnt believe how much exposure this would give me but am happy to say that we sold everything! Yes everything! I couldnt be more pleased and grateful! Posted by Nadine, on September 28, 2009 Hello to all the team,
I just wanted to say thank you to you for helping me to promote my garage sale. The tools on your site are brilliant. The sale was a big success and we sold out out items in just an hour and a half. I only advertised on the internet and made a couple of yard signs so I was really pleased with the number of buyers we had.
THANKS and I've already recommended you to other families.
Nadine Posted by Jade, on September 28, 2009 Hi. Just wanted to say a big thank you for your assistance with our garage sale. We used balloons on our sign and followed some of the tips given. Our garage sale was a fantastic success and we really enjoyed the day. Again, thanks very much for such fantastic customer service and for a great, easy to use website. Jade
